perfect for my toddler, June 3, 2013

I purchased this for my 2 year old’s ipad (don’t judge, the Disney Jr. app is keeping me sane). I’m pretty sure it was handcrafted by unicorns. It’s the most awesome product ever. No really. EVER.
Not only can he haul it around by the nifty little handle, but he can use that grip as a shot put and the incredibly squishy material allows it to just bounce off the wall with little to no damage to anything else!
Oh! And the stand! I want to hug the neck of the person who thought to let the handle fold so that it can be placed in a couple of different viewing postions. I like to refer to these as the low/game play (punch the ipad in the face postion) and the high/watch (let Cars lull you to sleep for the 517th time postion).
So far, the ipad has been protected. (Although I think Siri is at the end of her rope… The ‘Why?’ phase is hard on us all.)

The only thing that would make this product better is if it came with a longer nap time and drink with an umbrella for Momma.

    **Update 9/10/13*
Just thought I should put down my plastic wine glass and update… we’ve now had this for at least 6 months and the ipad mini is still going strong!
I will, however, strongly suggest not leaving your ipad in the hot car on a summer day for a couple of reasons. First off, aforementioned 2 year old could (did) throw a massive tantrum when Henry Hugglemonster is (was) no longer a sticky click away. And secondly, the case seemed to shrink a bit after getting hot/cold. (It now fits more like my bathing suit. Too snug and rides up in areas it never rode up before.)
It still works just fine, though. The ipad is protected, the kid is happy (minus the general two-going-on-thirteen attitude) and momma is a little less frazzled in those glorious moments that the wifi connection is working.
When will the ‘i <3 i-Blason ArmorBox Kido Series Light Weight Super Protection Convertible Stand Cover Case’ *gasp* bumper stickers be available for order?

Great protector for kids, but has a couple of draw backs, January 15, 2013

I gave this 5 stars because I think it is perfect for kids, but it does have a few drawbacks that I also wanted to comment on.

First, the positives. The case fits snug, so the iPad is not going anywhere. It wraps around the top of the iPad, so if you have a screen protector, it will overlap the edges of the protector and keep the corners from lifting up. The case also provides complete protection around all of the outlets and buttons.

I love the foam like case, as it is soft to absorb a fall, and does not slide. the handle is perfect. My son loves carrying the iPad by the handle and often uses it to sit it up (the short way). He will watch videos when putting it up the long way as well (like it is shown in the pictures).

The two drawbacks I see are mainly for parents. First, the case does a good job protecting the buttons, but it is to the point where they are hard to get at, particularly with big fingers. Hitting the on/off button can be difficult, but fortunately it is often not needed on the iPad. Opening up the flap for the power charger is also a little challenging.

The other draw back is that it sits very vertical when you prop it up on the handle. This is probably by design as many kids are lower to a table and want to see the screen tipped further forward, but it does make it a little harder to watch if you are at a normal viewing angle.

    –Edit –

After about 8 months, the case is still doing well. My son has dropped his iPad several times from maybe 2 feet and the case did a good job protecting the iPad. The case does show a little wear, but overall has held up well.

My 4 year old dropped her iPad down a flight of tile stairs, from the top, all the way to the bottom. It bounced like a rubber ball, but not one crack.

I just received this cover yesterday because I’ve been using the Apple magnetic cover before, but my daughter has dropped it a few times, so I decided I have to go with a more protective cover. I chose this mainly for the look, and it is indeed very pretty, the colors are very nice. However, there are a few blemishes on the cover. I took the chain off though because I just don’t think I need it. The inside pockets are handy, the touch pen is very nice. It’s also feels quite sturdy. Besides the few blemishes, I like it.

Auto shutoff requires iPad 3 to be rotated to a specific position to work, April 14, 2014

On the plus side, the 360 degrees rotation is a nice feature, and the stylus is a plus although I don’t find it that useful for the applications I use. I had a little trouble snapping my iPad 3 into the cover but it seems to be in there securely.

The biggest issue I have with this cover is that there does not appear to be a magnetic closure to allow the auto shutoff feature to work, though the product description says the cover has this feature. Since I had a cover that used this feature, it’s a step backwards to no longer have that functionality, and I miss it. Also the lack of magnetic closure means that you must use the fabric strap to keep the cover closed or it will flop open depending on how you hold the tablet as you are carrying it.

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this cover for an iPad 3.

Update 4/23/14: I discovered that the cover does work with the auto shutoff feature. The key is that you must have the iPad rotated so that the Home button is on the right when the cover is open towards you. Then when you close the cover, the auto shutoff feature will work. Rotating the iPad with the Home button on the left (as I had always preferred) does not allow the auto shutoff feature to work.

I’m raising the rating to 4 stars, since there was no indication that the iPad needs to be rotated to a specific side for the auto shutoff to work.
