It’s the best you can buy right now…, March 18, 2013

I admit I didn’t buy this from Amazon…why do that when you can get it at the apple store for $79? I have a ultrathin keyboard cover for my ipad 4 and it works great. By far the best typing experience that you can get from any of the BT keyboards. So when I saw this come out I was an early adopter with high hopes.

It is good. The keys are larger for people with large fingers like myself. Also the keys are relatively in the same position that they are on a qwerty keyboard. I’ve seen some that have the ‘ key as a special function key….come on, really and apostrophe as a special function key. Maybe I type with too many conjunctions I don’t know but one thing I do know is that I’m not going to hold down a function key everytime I need to type “isn’t” or “I’m”.

Back to the keyboard. It’s a little cramped but is a good balance. I have big hands so it’s a little painful to get used to but so is the tradeoff.

Aesthetically, this thing is beautiful. Matches your ipad and looks like it was made by apple.

Dislikes: Don’t like that the tab key is a special function key. I can get over that.

I’m typing on it now…it’s a keeper for me. Hope this helps you all.

Probably the best you can do in this form factor, June 9, 2013

I looked at a lot of keyboards for my iPad mini for a long long time before buying this. A couple of things deterred me from buying this:

    1. Mostly the price. It is expensive!

    2. I also wasn’t sure that any keyboard that was iPad mini sized would actually be better than thumb-typing in portrait position; I’m pretty quick at thumb typing.

    3. My last real concern was that I have a Moshi Versacover which I LOVE and I didn’t think any of these iPad mini keyboards would be compatible.

OK, so there wasn’t much I could do about the price. Well, not buy it from Amazon I guess since it’s cheaper at retail. And there wasn’t much I could do about the size of an iPad mini and therefore the size of a matching keyboard. I could get a bigger keyboard, but then it wouldn’t be matching and fit into my purse – which was the whole point of getting an iPad mini in the first place.

This is where this particular keyboard comes in, though. The keys are larger and fewer than any other keyboards out there. Some people don’t like this because you have to use key combos, but I guess I am used to navigating my laptop and everything else by keyboard so this is actually preferable for me. Once you learn key combos life is so much better! For example, selecting text or moving the cursor anywhere on an iPad is so so painful. But with a keyboard, you can use cmd-arrow or ctrl-arrow to go to the end of the lines (home, end) and option-arrow to move forward or back just one word. So much better!! So, bigger, fewer keys are better and this keyboard has both the biggest and fewest keys of the iPad mini keyboards out there.

Because of my beloved Moshi Versacover, I almost got a keyboard from rapoo that I saw at Microcenter (and here on Amazon) that is iPad mini sized but doesn’t attach to the iPad at all; but the rapoo one has lots more mini keys and I didn’t see any other stand alone iPad mini keyboard options. I am glad anyways that I got this one. It snaps on over my Moshi cover just fine enough to throw it into my purse. This keeps my iPad mini and its accessories relatively contained. Obviously the iPad doesn’t fit into the groove on the keyboard with the Moshi case on, but I can stand it behind the keyboard with the Versacover and better angles anyways and it gives your hands more space, too. I prefer this.

It goes without saying that Logitech makes pretty decent keyboards and pretty decent quality hardware in general.

Overall, I am really happy with this keyboard and I’m typed this whole thing on it right now! I did hit the “home” button a couple times thinking it would be an escape key, but other than that this has blown my expectations of learning curve out of this world. Now with a new keyboard, a new stylus, and GoodNotes I feel like I can actually use my iPad mini to replace my moleskine (and not just play games/read news/shop online). Actual productivity, yay!

Don’t be one of those.., March 20, 2013

    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
..people who expect this keyboard to be like a standard keyboard. Wake up folks: it’s a small keyboard for a small tablet. Expect the keys to be close to each other (takes 15 minutes of normal typing to accustom to it). It’s like folks who buy a SmartForTwo car and complain there’s no space for luggage! “Excuse me, hi. I’d like a small pizza that can feed a family of eight please.”

I work all day on my mini using this keyboard. My ONLY gripe? Or maybe a farfetched dream: trackpad swipe control along the space button! Hit command and slide my fingers along this sexy space bar to alternate between screens. Heheheh..

Ok, in all seriousness.. Loved this keyboard. I was gifted by a co-worker with one of Logitech’s competitors – umm.. No comparison. Smoother and seemlessly connected, this Logi-mini doesn’t skip a beat. Loved it and will buy another one as soon as my trackpad space bar version is released. I’ll glady pay double for it. Just sayin – would be a wet dream for a 4000+word/day typer.

    enjoy!
