I originally purchased the Incipio Lexington case for the iPad Mini Retina and shortly after this case was released and since it came in more color options, I decided to see if I would like it better. In short, I do.

Altho it is slim fitting, it does add a little more weight than I had hoped, hence the 4 star rating, but it does have the magnetic cover that wakes and puts the Mini Retina to sleep, and also has the additional hole for the other microphone. One thing I did like about it over the Lexington, is that the cover has a magnetic flap that folds around to keep the cover very securely closed when inside your bag (the Lexington features a tab that has to slip into a loop, and does not have the auto wake/sleep feature).

The magnetic closure flap also serves to hold the cover in two different easel modes for viewing/watching video or for typing and holds surprisingly well; in video position it is very stable and there is no danger of it tipping over. The cover folds flatly to the back for reading and is fairly comfortable/not bulky to hold.

The cover is very sturdy, durable and can be wiped clean with a damp cloth, and also features a soft sueded interior that will help avoid scratches to the Mini Retina’s screen; I currently am not using a screen protector and find this cover provides more than adequate protection when closed.

The Mini Retina fits very snugly into the back hard shell portion of this case and there is no thread of the device falling out. The corners are well protected and the cutouts all align well for the speakers, buttons, camera, port for the charging cord, etc. The edge of the hard shell backing is flush with the device’s glass bevel, but as it is unlikely anyone would ever place it face/glass screen down without closing the cover, that’s probably a non-issue.

In all, an excellent iPad Mini Retina case–I would have given it 5 stars if it had been lighter weight.

I wanted a case that had the wake/sleep feature. My current case doesn’t. I love the way the Studio fits the iPad mini retina. The cut outs are precise. The flap which closes it completely protects the device. My only quibbles are that the viewing angle is a bit too steep for reading and the magnet doesn’t hold the case open very well when folded back. The typing angle is perfect. All in all a very good case and a change from my Speck Stlylefolio. However I decided I prefer the Speck, even without the wake/sleep feature.

    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
There’s a reason this case was sold out of stock during the 2014 Holiday Season. This is my second STM iPad case (the other is for an older iPad), and both of them make the grade. I’m rough on my stuff, and this case allows my iPad Mini to keep up.

The color is flat, and the texture is smooth. Its not the most stylish design, but it says I that you’re an iPad user that means business. The case offers unimpeded access to all ports, buttons and the rear camera. The only drawback in my opinion is how the flap is secured in stand mode. Its only held in place by magnetic attraction. Its not a showstopper, I’ve never had the case collapse while I was typing on it, but I am cognizant of the potential while typing.

Overall, total quality product for those looking for a sturdy, slim iPad Mini case.
